It is an ideal base for exploring the valleys of Andorra and French and Spanish Catalonia - the highlights of Barcelona are only 3hrs away by coach - and it's quicker by bike or car ! Good walking /hiking - ski lifts operate during the summer season to whisk you up for fantastic views or simply to bask in the sun and enjoy refreshments in a mountain restaurant. If you want a break from driving bus services run into the capital of Andorra la Vella, where low-tax shopping is the major attraction,

Sports centre at Ordino ( 3km) offers indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and steamroom, as well as gym and ten-pin bowling. Anyos Sports Centre offers beauty treatments, pool etc as well as tennis. Such is the popularity of beauty therapies that several new centres have recently opened in addition to the Caldea centre in Andorra la Vella with its spectacular glass pinnacle . If you fancy four feet instead of four wheels, there's riding stables at Aldosa (2km), other offroad types of transport are available such as 4x4's, quads and mountain bikes (both powered and leg-powered !) There is plenty to see and do, museums, exhibitions and local feast days. Andorra is well-endowed with restaurants and it is possible to eat well at prices that won't break the bank.
English is widely understood and spoken, add a bit of French or Spanish = no problema !
