March Review - by Blade900rrt

It couldnt have arrived at a better time, picture the scene.... I have just put the VFR swing arm on the fireblade and the linage plates are wrong. The blade is now jacked up so high that I cant put my feet on the ground (and that is with the seat removed!), not good I say to Lawerence - my chief mechanic (not that he knows it yet).

So we go to put the bike on the side stand, and it doesnt want to know. With the back jacked so high, it was just tipping over, what now???

Coffee time, when a van pulls up outside the house. In the delivery guys arms is a box, not just any box but, a box which bared the mark..... Scorpion. Yes, you guessed a scorpion paddock stand.

Why all the excitement you may ask, well you may have heard the old saying you've tried the rest now try the best, well this is true. I have a shed full of paddock stands, you know the ones people tell you about "Hey, such and such a dealer has paddock stands for £18 or jos bloggs has them for £25, well I've tried them and they are totally useless. I have also tried a well known make also and wasnt impressed at all. Two of the stands have twisted, one occasion the paddock stand just twisted and over the bike went. So we contacted scorpion about their stands, told them I needed one quick, and lo and behold - quick was what I got.

Their customer service were very helpful, thanks Linda for sorting us out!

Building the stand up was easy, even for someone like me (considering my chief mechanic was holding my bike to stop it falling over) Because the side stand was no good. Speed was of the essence. It took no time at all and I didnt have to use any instructions (which for me is very good). The build quality was very impresssive, and when I compared it to the other inferior ones stacked up in the corner, I could tell at a glance it was made from better materials. It did the job a treat. I jumped on to the bike and bounced around a bit and it didn't even budge a bit.

So, when it comes to paddock stands, scorpion win hands down.

  • ease of assembly 10/10
  • ease of use 10/10
  • build quality 8/10

It may not be the cheapest on the market, but cheapest isnt always best. So why spend £7000 on your new pride and joy then try and skimp out on a few quid in quality only to end up with an inferior item. Which can't be used safely for its intended job.
