Ladies Leathers

Riding a sports bike and wanting to wear some good looking leathers is no problem if your a bloke, but women have a lot less choice in the marketplace.
But, with more and more women getting in the saddle some manufacturers are getting their act into gear and meeting the need. Although the choice is still not as wide as for the lads (don't the manufacturers realise that women LOVE shopping!) we have put together the following article to show you what choice is available and in the SIZES that matter.

Women shouldn't have to be riding around in ill-fitting trousers or jackets simply due to the limitations of the marketplace, and made-to-measure is not an option for everyone. If we need to buy separates as we are often one size up top and another for trousers - we need a good enough range to be able to select what fits!

Shopping for a good fitting and stylish pair of leathers is a lot harder than finding the perfect pair of jeans!. Hats off to Frank Thomas who offer the best range of sizes in size 8-16. Where most manufacturers are limiting themselves to just 3 womens sizes, 10, 12 and 14. Yet are offering up to 8 Male sizes as standard.
Imagine dropping into your favourite departments store and finding they only offer sizes 10-14. There would be an uproar!

Made to measure suits will cost 1000+, companies such as AM Leathers and BKS will make your leather race suits and separates to measure. So if you are a serious rider and the cost of made to measure is viable then do it.

If the price of a set of decent motorcycle leathers puts you off, just try to remember what you spend on everyday clothes - and then realise that a good set of motorcycle leathers CAN help to save injury - and even your life.

Below are some options that we like for stylish good looking off the peg leather suits, two piece and separates.

Two Piece

Riossi Sabre - 2 Piece
Available in sizes 10-16, Available in Colours Black/Red, Black/GunMetal, Black/Blue.
This is quite a subtle tribal design. Priced around £300.00 for the suit. Built in Back protector and body armour. Jacket is also available seperately for around £170.00, Pants available seperately at around 150.

Frank Thomas - 2 Piece
Available in sizes 10-16, Available in Colours Black/Red/White, Black/Gun/White, Black/Blue/White.
The design on this one is more subtle than most - although not so sure that the positioning of the white patches is very flattering!

Alpinestars - Bostrum, 2 Piece
Colours available Red/black, blue/black and red/blue
Fitting for back protector, knee sliders, available in sizes 8 to 18. This has to be the best 2 peice race suit we have found for sizes and looks. Costing around £700

Seperates - Jackets

Dainese - Tribal Jacket
Available in sizes 10,12,14. Colours Grey or Red
Stylish and flattering design. Priced around 300

Dainese - Imatra Jacket
Available in sizes 10,12,14. Available in one colour only.
I always think of this as the clasic Dainese design. Good looking on both male and female. Priced around £350

Alpinestars - Dyno Jacket
Available in sizes XS, S, M, L (Approx 8-14). Blue or Red
Great looking jacket, no back protector or armour - although you can fit a back protector. This is a lightweight jacket. Priced under £300

Alpinestars - Hero Jacket
Available in sizes 10,12,14. Black
Not a very stylish jacket with a huge collar which is probably ok for touring, but even though it will zip to alpinestar pants, can't see me wanting to tear around wearing this. Priced at around £250, it reminds me of an old flying jacket.

Riossi - Racing Suzuki
Available in sizes 10,12,14. Black
Armour and available with speed hump, this will suit trackday and fast girls! I think it is excellent, if I had a GSXR I'd have one.

Lookwell - Warrior
Available in sizes 28-34 chest, Black/Gun, Black/Red
Leather jeans to match. Armour is included. Price £160

Seperates - Jeans

Dainese - Keep Jeans
Available in sizes 10,12,14. Black with either white or red detail.
At around £290 these do have wasit zip and knee sliders.

Dainese - Joy Jeans
Available in sizes 10,12,14. Black.
These look great, and comfortable and look as though they would be great for the girls. Ideal for pillion, no kneeslider patch yet well fitting. And at £200 the best ones I've seen.

Alpinestars - Rat Jeans
Available in wasit sizes from 22-32inch. Black
With a Alpinestar logo on the leg, these look ok - but with no kneeslider patch no good for fast girls! Absolutely brilliant that they have such small waist sizes.

Frank Thomas - FTL184 Avenger
Available in sizes 8-16, Available in Black.
Good classic design for black leather pants. Velcro waist fastening, stretch panels for a good fit. With a good price of just over 100 quid, these would be my choice.. as the dainese ones don't come in my size!

Richmond Icon Leathers
Available in sizes 8-16. Available in Black.
Costing around £100, available from Richmond Leathers. Jackets are also available to zip together.
