If you've ever thought about going on track, out of curiosity or to find out just how much your bike can do, or simply for the experience of riding the same track as your favourite racer, you can now for around £100 spend a day on a track and benefit from the advice of instructors and the back up of trained personnel should there be an accident.
You don't have to be an expert rider, or
particularly fast on the road, you don't have to own the latest race replica. So long as your bike is in good condition and you have the correct kit, you can sign up and turn up and get on track!
Riding on track is easier than riding on the road. Think about it - you are facing the same bends, the same straights, for the same miles. There are no junctions, no lorries, no diesel spills, no
Sunday drivers.
Riding on the road is all well and good but, with more and more fast bikes on the market. With the roads getting clogged up with traffic, its often impossible to get anywhere near your bikes capabilities (not to mention its breaking the law!).
This year, probably sees more Trackdays than ever available for you to choose from. They are increasingly popular and organisers are now fitting the demands. Click here to view our events diary which features several
Trackdays this year.
Trackdays are organised. They are NOT races, so don't expect to have to compete. All attending riders are placed in groups, usually Beginner,
Intermediate and Fast. You'll only be on track from between 10-20 minutes at a time, depending on the organisers arrangements. Each of the groups will take turns in rotation.
Before you go on track, you will be given a briefing about track etiquette and how the day will be structured. If its your first time on track, listen. If you've been on track before but this is a new track - listen!.
