Northumberland

Picturesque Northumberland, situated next to the Scottish Borders and Cumbria, hosts many areas and places which are easily accessible and enjoyable to see by motorcycle.

Northumberland is home to more Castles than any other British County. Alnwick, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Warkworth and Chillingham are home to just some of these.
If history is your thing, you have so much to choose from including Hadrians Wall, The Brigantium Archeaology Centre near Otterburn, remains of a roman site in Corbridge and Housesteads Roman Fort to name but a few attractions.

If your looking for somewhere picturesque, try Keidler. Kielder Water is the largest man-made lake in Europe, situated within Keidler Forest. With several picnic areas and visitor areas en-route you can stop reguarly for smoke breaks and cups of tea.

If its just the ride you are after, you could do worse than take the Northumberland Coastal Route, a well signposted 35 mile scenic route along the Northumberland Coast. Stop off at Seahouses along the way for fish and chips like everyone else does!

The map below is a suggested route around Northumberland incorporating The Northumberland Coastal Route and Hartside. It misses out Kielder pictured above - but we will be adding a section on this very soon!

A cirular route which will take a full day for a ride out, if you are planning the occasional stop off. It can be picked up at any point and any direction.

Highlighted on the map are places to stay and pubs to grab a bite to eat in. Simply roll your mouse over it and click on the coloured squares to see their advertisements.
